Dr James Malcolm had an instrumental role in the establishment of the Master of Clinical Psychology program at UWS in 1998 and was appointed as the inagural Director of the UWS Psychology Clinic. James held that role until 2009 and built a comprehensive program of clinical training placement opportunities. James developed core units including theory and practice of psycholocial interventions and the development of professional practice skills. For the bulk of the first decade of UWS Clinical Masters program James functioned as both the Director of the academic program and the Director of the clinic. While teaching four of the primary practice units, and supervising reseach projects across the Postgraduate Diploma, Honours and Masters programs. James's role as Director included the development of the practice and adiministrative protocols and procedures together with direct clinical supervision of students undertaking their initial practicum training. James participated in the original design of the Master of Clinical Psychology and the initial accreditation process by the Australian Psychological Society AN. James led the curriculum development and accreditation process for the award on two successive iteration and reaccreditation rounds.
